After receiving her journalism degree at Purdue, Stephanie Salter worked at Sports Illustrated, then took a reporting job at the San Francisco Examiner (later the Chronicle), where she spent 28 years and served on the editorial board. In 2004, she returned to Terre Haute, where she worked as an assistant editor for opinion and commentary at the Star-Tribune. She continues to serve as columnist on the
op-ed pages.
